Hi,
long time since my last post had a bit much to do.
But as promissed month ago I will give you my feedback to the hols we took on the Shannon, dog included.
We hired a boat from SilverLine, sure there are many others out but we found there the best deal for us.
Went on board in Banagher, and down to Lough Derg.
Along the lake there are harbours with lovely Pubs, all with a beer garden where Snoop was able to join us for Dinner.
Snoop did not think that water is his element and was very nervous the first 2 days but got then used to it.
He even adopted it as his new home and was glad to roll in on his bed while we went for dinner on the not so nice evenings where beer garden would have been a big coat story.
It was a holiday to remember and even we had to get the mechanic out to us the second day - as the boat did not want to start - and we had to be rescued by the Portumna coast guards - Snoop was a shadow of himself as he noticed we were nervous - it was unbelievable great!
We ran into rocks on a very misty morning and lost total navigation. A day I will never forget. The bang, I felt like beeing on Titanic.
To sum up: it was great, great, great. Do it! Let the company know you have a dog or 2 and there is no problem at all.
I will post a few pics in the next post.

Rika, Does sound like fun! My folks have a place down that direction:) We often go to dromod. Peep are always on boats with dogs. Makes for a great holiday....I wouldnt do it myself with the children and the dogs I would defo be a nervous wreck
We went for a weekend away to Tramore just ourselves and the three dogs:) we were allowed to stay in a hotel right, now I mean, right beside the beach. It was a noisy place but didnt care as we had the dogs and they wern't always quiet. No kids so
We were able to pay full attention to the dogs it was really a bonus. I have never let Suki off lead (in public) before till that weekend. The others didnt get off no way.
It was late no really late... no one on beach! Suki ran like a loon hammer and tongs up the beach was a pleasure to watch her run between us. She is a water baby!! in she went not a care, it was that hot she was delighted. She kept digging at stones for us to throw in and when we did and they were too deep for her to find she was well disgusted!! Kali was such a prude she wouldnt get her tootsies wet for NO One gas the differance of the two of them...she stood on her hind legs and begged to be lifted as Suks kept attacking her to try get her to play, but m'lady was having none of it haha!. I got licked to death when I lifted her up the gratefulness haha!
You want to see the state of Suks , sand, well we brought half the beach home in her long coat.... I had to get into the bath myself with her to clean her
I highly reccomend holidays with the dogs where ever you can. They love it and we did too.
Rika I might give that a try if we get sitters for the kiddies though Thanks:))

Hi, thanks for your comments.
You can even just have a boat for 3 days, no need to get into a full week if desired.
Here are the promised pics. They are mostly Dog pics as the copy right I can not show the people, but hope you enjoy it anyway.
The day when it all began. Snoop was so excited about the comotion that he sneaked into the car and was not even tempted with ham to get out of it.
![]() On the boat it was scary for Snoop so best place, Mamys lap
![]() No engine, I can have a little nap
![]() What a boat!
![]() No need to go away, Lough Derg in evening dream...
![]() A visitor for Breaky, but Snoop was not happy about it and had to announce that loud.
![]() In Scarriff we had a nice BBQ - loved that harbour, nearly no people and Snoop was able to roam around
![]() Met a friend there as well
![]() Cann anyone please help me up!?
![]() Need to scout the way for us
![]() Now I keep watch
![]() The stone garden we found in the middle of the lake
![]() This is not a funny english flag, it is our distress notification so the coast guards would find us. But the visibility was soo bad, they were not able to see it anyway.
![]() Shock had to be drowned and we did that in Banagher, I think that is the pup you mentioned
![]() Hope you enjoyed it. It was a fab holiday and could not be topped for me.

Looked like ye had a good time. I love snoop's little life jacket. Did ye stop in lough key forest park in boyle?
Id love to hire a boat for a week and have a holiday on the water but I think Id be too nervous, sometimes Im ok with water but other times I just completely freak out, if something happened (like what happened with you when it wouldn't start or running into rocks) Id probably through myself overboard in a panic, and Id have to watch the dog too much for fear he'd fall off, not to mention he hates going near the edge of something that has a steep drop and water underneath (he hates piers and won't go near the edge without crawling on his belly).
Im just back from holidays in donegal with charlie. We stayed in a dog friendly house that had a fully enclosed (HUGE) back garden with only a handful of neighbours, rural area but very central with everywhere only a short drive away and tons of beaches and lovely places to walk. Charlie was brought everywhere with us and most places allowed dogs once you asked them and told them he was small. Went to the same place last year too and would happily go back next year. I must post some pics of him on his holidays once I take them off the camera.

Hi, I understand what you mean, many people have issues with water. And Snoop was not too happy about that much water around him too.
We did not stop at that forest park, were not even aware of it. But there is so much around the lake you can't go through all in only a week.
Donegal must be very beautiful, we should consider it as well for a little get away.
Looking forward to your pics ;-)
